Actually I wasn’t too worried since it was a tandem jump and he was strapped onto a young man who had made over 7000 jumps already. So unless Craig’s time was up, I figured all would be well. But I did have an eye on the guys in the back room who were packing the parachutes to make sure they weren’t having a brewski while packing.
He free fell for about 60 seconds which is a LONG time to be heading toward the earth like a bullet. The next seven minutes were heaven. You can tell from the grin on his face before, during, and after the jump that he enjoyed every second of this.
There was someone who took GoPro pictures of him as he left the plane and during most of the free fall until the chute opened. Notice how beautiful the scenery is. Jeff was up so high he could see the curvature of the earth. Lake Taupo is the largest fresh water lake in the Southern Hemisphere. The snow covered mountains (barely visible in the background) are volcanoes where people ski in the winter.
